10 things about me

My cool brother Ozzie tagged me to write 10 things about myself. Here goes!

#1 - I am the toughest dog in the house. I even chew metal.

#2 - I like my brothers' food better than mine. The moms switched me to Eagle something food - tastes like fish. I'll eat it but I still try to distract Sabre and grab a bite of his before I'll touch mine.

#3 - I have a routine in the morning. Mommy Cate lets me out of my cave, and I step my two front feets out. Then I stretch and yawn. Mommy Cate says I "coo like a pigeon." Then I dash to the door, remembering to kiss Mommy Cate at the last minute, so I have to turn around, jump up and give her a kiss before I go outside.

#4 - I don't like to be in the house. I also don't like when my sissy brothers go inside because it's storming, too cold, whatever. I'll stand on my hind legs and jump against the glass door until one of the mommies opens it and tells Sabre to go outside with me.

#5 - I sleep with a big flat buffalo toy.

#6 - I have a HUGE fluffy tail. My butt's pretty fluffy too. The moms were singing some song about them "liking big butts and they cannot lie" the other night as I walked away. I dunno what that's about.

#7 - I am an expert hole digger. I love to be filthy.

#8 - I still like to grab poop, run up and show it to Mommy Cate and then haul butt staying just out of her reach. When she starts to give up I eat it and watch her yell.

#9 - My favorite game is to fling myself against the glass door standing up, like I'm desperate to come in. Then when the moms come to the door I back up 2 feet and act like they are strangers trying to kidnap me. They give up, shut the door, and I start again when they sit back down. SOOO much fun.

#10 - I hate baths (the moms try to drown me sometimes) but I love drinking from the hose.

Husky kisses,

Busted!

Man, I love red clay, but I hate the drowning that happens after I play in it. So today is "punish poor Dief" day. Mommy Cate will be setting down lots of mulch and blocking all my lovely yard holes with something. She's also trimming my nails because she said I fought too hard in the bath. I mean, what does she expect when she tries to drown me, just sit quietly and let her kill me? Sheesh.

This was me being captured by Mommy Cate:

By the way, Ozzie, is this YOU???

By all, gotta go hide from the dremel nail eater.

Happy Christmas Everyone!

Happy Christmas from Echo, Sabre, and ME!

We had a great day. New toys, Christmas dinner (potatoes, carrots, and some of mommy Claire's sausage) and lots of snuggles and kisses. Mommy Cate brushed out Echo and Sabre. She took a picture. She said we have a whole 'nother puppy there! I tried to get it to play with me, but it wouldn't.

Special hugs to Ozzie! Love you bro!

We have a ghost dog!

I keep telling the mommies that the house is haunted. They don't believe me!

Sometimes, late at night when I'm looking out the sliding glass doors into our back yard and wishing I was eating pinecones, I see the ghost!

I think it's a girl, and she's a husky my size! At first she looks nice and friendly but then when I look at her close she looks a little mean. When I growl at her she gets a REALLY mean look on her face like she's growling back!

She has to be a ghost, because a live dog would smell like dog and a dead one would smell bad. I keep trying to tell the mommies, but they just laugh and laugh while I try to keep the ghost dog out.

It is my sworn duty now to guard the mommies against this ghost dog every night. If someone could please tell my mommies I'd appreciate it, because they don't listen to me.

PS - Echo and Sabre don't believe me either.

PPS - Happy Christmas Eve!

Dief and Ozzie's Great Adventure!

So Sunday was my play date with my litter brother Ozzie. We had sooo much fun. We played, and fought, and tumbled and ran. Then we fought some more. We were playing in the yard and I found a fresh pile one of my big brothers left, so I rolled Ozzie in it. Sorry Oz!

Ozzie and I look so different now! I'm super fuzzy and he's all nice and neat looking. Darn humidity! Mommy Cate says I'm a "chunk", but I don't know what that means. All I know is it is fun to hear her say "oof" when she picks me up. I think she's trying to bark. So cute.

I got to meet John and Kelly, Ozzie's humans. They're pretty nice!

Ozzie lost two teeth biting me while we played. I didn't feel a thing! I'm husky tough! Oz, I'll mail your teeth if I find them.

ps Oz, my brother Echo said you didn't follow through on your claim that you could beat him up.

Here's the pictures!

This is Oz playing vampire.

This is us touching noses the hard way.

This is Oz trying to smother me.

Mommy Cate tries to wipe poop off of Ozzie after I rolled him in it.

Ozzie tries to escape, but I grab him by the tail.

Oz gets away. I totally let him.

Oz tries to use me as a pillow.

Me. I'm so pretty.

This is us playing looking fierce. Oz is on the left.

Us again. Oz on the left again.

I can't wait for the next play date! Loves ya OZ!

I don't like Mommy Cate anymore.

Last night Mommy Cate had to make stuff in her shop downstairs. That's the place she caught me with the husky trap, but I still LOVE to go in there and play.

However, last night, she captured me and threw me in a PLAYPEN. She said "Look Dief, you're right beside me and I can lean over and kiss you on the nose. I have orders to fill, so hush. You're fine!"

And, yes, it's true. I could get a kiss whenever I wanted but I *HATE* when she works.

#1 - She ignores me. She says she can't solder if she's looking at me cause she'll burn the shop down.
#2 - She makes LOUD noises with her hammer.
#3 - She ignores me.
#4 - She makes smelly things when she uses her stuff to "oxidize silver".
#5 - She ignores me.
#6 - She tells me to be quiet for just one minute while she concentrates. Like I'm not concentrating too? I'm concentrating on all the talking and howling! It doesn't just HAPPEN.
#7 - She ignores me.
#8 - She doesn't let me eat the shiny rocks if she drops them. She also doesn't let me play with the stuff she makes.

So, I have decided that since Mommy Cate has decided I need to hang out with her when she works downstairs that I'm not going to be her friend anymore.

*grumble* *grumble* *howl*

I have pictures!!!

Click the pictures to see them bigger!

My brother Sabre makes the best pillow.

Me after Mommy tried to drown me. 3 days of rain and I get punished for playing in the red mud??

I have a PIZZA BONE! The Mommies and Carmen got pizza, and when they were done they gave us the bones. YUM! Sabre ate his fast, so he was asking me "Are you gonna eat that?"

Me and Sabre, just chilling.

My brother Echo trying to eat me. I love this picture cause I looks tough in Echo's mouth.

Mommy Claire is Getting Better!

So this weekend, Mommy Claire was in bed and Mommy Cate lifted me up. Mommy Claire and I did some play fighting, and it was sooo much fun I fell off the bed. Mommy Cate picked me back up and then I learned that I can run and jump real high off the bed, and get pretty far when I land. Mommy Cate made a funny squeak when I did it the first time, but then she remembered that I am super husky strong and it doesn't hurt me. I did try to run and jump back on the bed and realized I'm a little short. I almost made it though. I really didn't appreciate the Mommies laughing when I bounced backward and landed on my butt on the floor.

Mommy Cate had to go to work yesterday and Carmen had to go back to some place called the Army, so Mommy Claire babysat me yesterday! This was the first time since she got attacked by that surgeondog. She said she actually had a median sternotomy, but I dunno what that means. I do know it means that she can't pick me up cause I'm too heavy; I'm 23 pounds!!! AWOOOOOOO!

So yesterday I was all confused, and kept asking to go out. I'd come back in, but I'd see that she wasn't up to playing, so I'd ask to go right back out again. Then when she still wouldn't play I peed on the floor by her desk. Sorry Mom, dunno what came over me.

So anyway, Mommy Cate left for work this morning and told me I have to behave. I gave her kisses the whole time she was trying to tie her shoes. That's SOOO funny cause she gets annoyed but still likes it, so she doesn't tell me off. I gotta go back to sleep for a while until Mommy Claire can get up and let me out of my cave.

Oz, my brother, you gotta tell Mommy Cate where we should meet up! She pulled me out of my Sunday class at PetSmart. I know all the commands already and there was only one other dog. She wanted me to socialize, but I know how to do that already. I got Sunday afternoon available now!

WOW! I *love* Thanksgiving!

Mommy Cate and Carmen made "Thanksgiving" dinner yesterday. Mommy Claire couldn't really do much because she still is getting over that dog attack. Some dog called a SURGEON attacked her chest. Her booboo still looks pretty rough.

Anyway, Mommy Cate didn't go to work yesterday, which was awesome just on its own, but then they started cooking all these GREAT smells. I was pretty sad when the three of them started eating all that wonderful food because we'd just had kibble for lunch.

Sabre and Echo kept telling me to wait for it. They said they'd had lots of Thanksgivings, and that the pack leaders always made them a plate of food after they were done. I was pretty excited, and sure enough, Carmen and Mommy Cate made us all a plate of everything! I had turkey, gravy, potatoes, carrots and a little bit of something called a roll. It was SOOOO good I licked my plate over and over. Then, for normal dinner, we got a little kibble with a little bit more of all that great stuff!

Man, I love this Thanksgiving thing. I'm a pretty lucky puppy!

Carmen's nose!

This is really fun to stick your tongue in. Carmie was sleeping yesterday and I stuck my tongue in her nose as far as I could! I got it almost all the way in.

She yelped and said I hit her brain!

Hahahahahaha. Carmen is SO funny. I'm gonna try it again today when she isn't expecting it.

Oh yeah, and I'm 21 pounds now!!! Husky power!!

Man, what a weekend!

So get this, Sunday night Carmen left and Mommy Claire went to sleep early so Mommy Cate headed down to the FUN PLACE. She calls it her studio. I don't know what that means, but she says she's still not unpacked yet. That means there are lots of boxes and stuff leaning against the wall to play obstacle course with. There's a door that opens to the backyard, and she leaves it open while she does something she calls metalsmithing. I love running around the whole room and hiding behind a box so Mommy Cate says "DIEF!! Where are you?" Then I bolt and run the rest of the room and shoot out the door before she can catch me. It's really fun when she has the fire thing in her hand, cause she gets REALLY annoyed.

Well, I guess she must have gotten tired of me doing that because she put a HUSKY TRAP in the room!!! I snuck behind the door, where this sticky thing was on the floor. Mommy Cate SAYS she forgot it was there and the old people that lived here had wanted to relocate a mouse. I don't know what a mouse is, but I know it was to trap me!

Anyway, I snuck back in to her studio and made sure she was working on something with her magic fire tool so she was distracted. I decided I wanted to start my run behind the door, so I snuck back there.

But then this husky trap grabbed my back foot! I cried and ran and ran so fast. I ran behind all the boxes, trying to get away. Stuff was falling down all around me as I tore through the room. I saw Mommy Cate shut off her fire and yell "DIEF!!!! STOP DESTROYING EVERYTHING!", but all I could do was keep running, trying to get away from the thing grabbing my foot!! I ran into the clear area of the room where Mommy Claire's picture taking stuff is going to be. Mommy Cate saw me running and saw me looking at my foot!

I broke for the door, but Mommy Cate grabbed me up. The husky trap still had me, so I had to wriggle and wriggle and try to get away. Mommy Cate was telling me to calm down!

Calm DOWN? I had a husky trap on my foot!! That must mean she was in on it! I fought even harder to get away, but somehow she carried me up the stairs and opened the sliding door to get in the house. The husky trap STILL had me and Mommy Cate was LAUGHING!

She opened the pantry door and got OIL! I've seen her use that when she cooks stuff! I thought "Oh no, she's going to EAT ME!!!!" so I fought even harder still, since she only had me with one arm. Somehow she still wrestled me into the kitchen sink. She held me with one arm while she opened the oil, and then she started to pour it on my trapped foot. That was the last straw. I knew she had fattened me up enough and was going to have me for dinner. So, I flipped myself over in the sink but she got me anyway - cooking oil all over my back and tail instead!

She was laughing and telling me I was a crazy animal, and to be still already! Like I should just let her cook me? I don't think so. She started to put oil on my paw and got the husky trap off. Then she ran warm water and started to WASH me! I knew the pot couldn't be far behind, so I started trying to jump out of her arms while she was rubbing the oil in.

She grabbed me and muttered something about "crazy husky." You'll never guess what she tried to do next! She took me to the drowning place! Of course, that makes sense. It's easier to cook me if I'm drowned, right? So I fought all the way up the stairs. Mommy put me in the drowning place and spent about 15 minutes trying to prep me for dinner! She put this soap on me (I think it's like salt or pepper or something) and was rubbing it all over me. I fought SO hard. She was saying her back was starting to hurt and would I please calm down. In the end she gave up trying to drown me, and grabbed a towel. After she towel dried me off, she just sat down and started laughing at me. The good news was she didn't eat me after all. But I have to watch her now. I gave her dirty looks all night to let her know that I was on to her.

Well, the next morning, she feeds me and is all nice and sweet. Then she takes me to the truck and puts me in the crate! She never does that. She normally feeds us and goes to work. She didn't take my brothers, just ME. I yelled for help the whole time in the truck but we didn't pass any police officers. We finally got to the place where she took me in and started talking about me being there for doggie daycare. I don't know what that means, but she left me!

Anyway, all day long I was miserable. The people there weighed me, stole my poop and looked at it (I wasn't done with it yet either!), and then a big mosquito bit me. The people at my new home really liked me, but I was so sad. They said I was super smart, because I know sit, down, come and stay already. I didn't eat all my lunch or dinner because I was missing everyone, and wondering what I did that made Mommy Cate try to cook me and then sell me.

But then she finally came back! Oh, I was so happy!

So I got back home last night and Carmen was back! YAY! Sabre and Echo were still there. Carmen told Mommy Cate that Sabre was on "hunger strike," but as soon as Carmen gave me some food Sabre ate all his. My brothers and I played really hard for 3 hours before we finally went to sleep.

So I'm okay now, and home with Carmen. If anyone could please tell Mommy Cate that it's not nice to trap huskies, I'd appreciate it.

Mommy Claire likes to let us watch Cesar so we can see dogs on TV. Today he showed he has a husky!! He uses the husky to get other dogs really excited!! So that's what MY job is!!

Hello World!

Hi! My name is Diefenbaker, but you can call me Dief. I'm named after the "wolf" from the show Due South. The wolf was really a Siberian Husky like me. I also answer to "OUCH" and "you little imp!" and "howler". I'm 7 weeks old, my favorite things are chewing, howling, and terrorizing people, rugs, walls and my new brothers.

My new alphas are Cate and Claire, and I also live with two really big German Shepherds. They're both smelly boys, and they're named Echo and Sabre. I thought people might be entertained by my adventures, so I started this blog.

This is me:

This is my oldest brother in the pack, Echo, drowning me with his 5 foot tongue again:

Echo and I get along great, although he says he really doesn't like me biting his tail. It's fun, so I'm not sure why he doesn't like it. I can usually get a few good jump attacks in on him before he catches me. I run fast and can escape through small places he can only get his nose.

This is my other brother Sabre, who keeps telling me he's confused. He says I smell like a dog but I don't look like one or even sound like a real dog. I howl and talk at him, but he just keeps looking at me funny like he doesn't understand. I guess I need to learn to speak German or something. I think he's still trying to tell if I'm some really cool new toy. He stepped on my paw this morning, which really hurt because he's a heavy butt. I growled at him and pounced him and play-bowed twice trying to get him to take me on so I could show him I was tough, but I think he felt bad about making me cry. I hate looking like a sissy, so I'll have to beat him up when he's not looking. This is a picture of him staring at me trying to figure out where my batteries go. I don't know what batteries are, but I told him I don't think I have any. He just gave me that look again:

I don't think he's too smart.

I've lived with them for 4 days now, I left my old family on Saturday. A lot has happened since then, but Claire needs to feed me now cause my tummy hurts.

Bye!

Dief
